These individuals serve without compensation. The objective of the Council is to provide for all the people of the community opportunities for wholesome play and recreation through an integrated program covering a wide range of organized activities. This year, over 1800 children, young people, and adults will participate directly in these activities. Thousands of others will enjoy the thrill of spectators, as they follow the development of their children, watch the competitive sports, or witness the awe-inspiring fireworks display which is the climax of the July 5th Community Picnic. This year's budget is over $10,000 which goes almost entirely to the programmed activities for instructors salaries, equipment, supplies and incidental program expenses. Because of the volunteer work of the Council members, the actual administrative cost is less than $100. Registration fees furnish little more than half the budget, the remainder coming from the City of College Station and the College Station United Chest, Inc.
