SWIMMING PROGRAM
The College Station Recreation Council Swimming Program will tentatively be operated
on two five week sessions.
SESSIONS WILL BE HELD:
REGISTRATION:

First Session - June 5 to July 7
Second Session - July 17 to August 18
Registration for the first session will be held on
Sunday, June 4, 1972 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. in G. Rollie
White Coliseum.
Registration for the second session will be held on
Sunday, July 16, 1972 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. in G. Rollie
White Coliseum.
$5.00 per class - residents of the City of College Station
$10.00 per class - non-residents of College Station
BEGINNING SWIMMERS MUST BE AT LEAST SIX (6) YEARS OF AGE: In addition, they must
be 51 inches tall OR be able to swim 30 feet. Any child
who does not qualify will be dropped from the class.
COMPETITIVE SWIMMING, DIVING, AND LADIES CLASSES WILL BE HELD IF A COACH IS AVAILABLE.

FLAG FOOTBALL PROGRAM The College Station Recreation Council will sponsor a youth Flag
Football Program in the fall. Publicity on the details of the
program will be distributed through the schools and the news media
during the month of August. The program will start on September 15th
and continue through November 18, 1972. The program will include
boys from 6 through 12 years of age. They will be assigned leagues
according to age and weight. Parents will be required to accompany
boys participating in the program at the organizational meeting. The
date of this meeting will be announced in August. Anyone interested
in coaching or assisting with this program should contact:
Dr. Marion L. Clark, Jack Hurlbut or Al Swoboda
LITTLE LEAGUE BASKETBALL PROGRAM The College Station Recreation Council will sponsor a
Little League Basketball Program for boys 7 through 11 years of age
and for girls 7 through 12 years of age. The program may be expanded
to include ages 12-14 for boys and the 13 & 14 year old girls if
there is sufficient adult supervision and adequate facilities
available. The program will be publicized through the school
and the news media. The anticipated starting date for the program
is February 1, 1973 and it will last through the first week in April.
Parents must accompany participants at the organizational meeting.
Anyone interested in coaching or assisting with the program, please
contact; Al Pedulla, Dr. Marion L. Clarke, Jack Hurlbut or Al Swoboda.
JUDO PROGRAM The Recreation Council will sponsor a judo program at Lincoln Center.
There is no fee for participation. The current program is for ages
7-14. For additional information contact Lincoln Center Judo Gym.

LINCOLN CENTER
Lincoln Center will have a summer recreation program sponsored by
PROGRAM
The College Station Recreation Council. Programs will be developed
around the interests of the individuals participating in the program.
The facility and program will be open to children 4 years of age and
up. Adult programs will be initiated if areas of interest are expressed.
The Director and staff of the center are volunteers from the Recreation
and Parks Department of Texas A&M University. Details of the program
will be publicized through the news media late in May. The Center will
have a diversified program including: crafts, library service, team
sports and games, low organized games, and individual and dual sports.
The hours will be from 9 a.m. - 12:00 noon; 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and
6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The program will rely
on volunteers to instruct and supervise the activities. Anyone
interested in assisting with the program should contact Dr. Marion L.
Clarke, Mr. Bill Smith or the Recreation and Parks Department at Texas
A&M University, phone 845-5411. The program is planned to start
June 1, 1972. If there is enough interest, the program will be
continued throughout the year.

This program will be a two phase program for children of College Station:
Phase 1 - Age groups: Bantams 8 & 9 yrs (boys & girls)
Midgets 10 & 11 yrs (boys & girls)
Juniors 12 & 13 yrs (boys & girls)
Workout times: Bantam, Midget & .Junior girls

The emphasis in this phase of the program will be on
improvement of motor skills. Activities will include
running, agility games, rope climbing, and some teaching
of basic track and field skills.
We will have local track meets. Ribbons will be awarded
for the first six places at these events. Winners at
these meets will be invited to go to the state Junior
Olympic Meet in the latter part of July.
Phase 2 - Age groups: Intermediates 14 & 15 yrs (boys & girls)
Seniors 16 & 17 yrs (boys)
Workout times: Will be done on an individual basis
between 4:30 - 8:00 p.m.

IN
THE RECREATION COUNCIL
The Recreation Council is composed of College Station citizens, representing
the service and civic organizations, the public schools, the University, the
City of College Station, and the community at large. These individuals serve
without compensation.
The objective of the Council is to provide for all the people of the community
opportunities for wholesome play and recreation through an integrated program
covering a wide range of organized activities.
This year, over 1800 children, young people, and adults will participate direct-
ly in these activities. Thousands of others will enjoy the thrill of spectators
as they follow the development of their children, watch the competitive sports,
or witness the awe-inspiring fireworks display which is the climax of the Jule
4th Community Picnic.
This year's budget is over $10,000 which goes almost entirely to the programmed
activities for instructors salaries, equipment, supplies and incidental program
expenses. Because of the volunteer work of the Council members, the actual
administrative cost is less than $100. Registration fees furnish little more
than half the budget, the remainder coming from the City of College Station and
the College Station United Chest, Inc.
