HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-0730 - Ordinance - 03/22/1971ORDINANCE NO. 730 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE QUESTION OF AN AMENDMENT OF ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 38, BY ADDING A PLANNED DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT (PUD). BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: WHEREAS, the City Planning and Zoning Commission has recommended that Zoning Ordinance No. 38 be amended by adding a Planned Development District (PUD); The purpose of this addition to the City Zoning Ordinance is to permit such flexibility and to provide performance criteria which can result in planned developments which produce: 1. A maximum choice in the type of environment and living units available to the public; 2. Open space and recreation areas; 3. A pattern of development which preserves trees, outstanding natural topo- graphy and geologic features and prevents soil erosion; 4. A creative approach to the use of land and related physical development; 5. An efficient use of land resulting in smaller networks of utilities and streets and thereby lower housing costs; 6. An environment of stable character in harmony with surround- ing development; and 7. A more desirable environment than would be possible through strict application of other sections or districts in this ordinance. IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that a public hearing shall be held in the City Hall of College Station, Texas at 7:00 P. M. on April 26, 1971 on the question of amending Zoning Ordinance No. 38 by adding a Planned Development District (PUD). Notice of said hearing shall be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of College Station, Texas at least fifteen days prior to the date fixed for the hearing.
