AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 184, AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR
PARTICIPATION IN THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM BY THE CITY
OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR AND ELECTING TO HAVE ALL OF
THE EMPLOYEES OF ALL DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT, EXCEPT
THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, PARTICIPATE IN SUCH SYSTEM; AND ACCEPTING ALL
OF THE OBLIGATIONS AND BENEFITS OF SUCH SYSTEM.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION,
TEXAS:
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Council of the City of College
Station, Texas that Section 1 of Ordinance No. 184 excludes the fire department of the
City of College Station, Texas from participating in the Texas Municipal Retirement
System, and
WHEREAS, the City of College Station, Texas has established its own full-time
Fire Department, and the City of College Station, Texas desires to have all of its
employees under the Texas Municipal Retirement System; now, therefore, Section 1
of Ordinance No. 184 shall be amended to read as follows:
Section 1: That, on behalf of the City of College Station, Texas, the City
Council hereby exercises its option and elects to have the city and all of the employees
of all departments, including the full-time employees of the Fire Department, participate
in the Texas Municipal Retirement System, as provided in Chapter 75, Acts of the
50th Legislature, as amended, being Article 6243h of Vernon's Annotated Civil Statutes;
and all of the benefits and obligations of such system are hereby accepted.
Therefore, Ordinance No. 184, Section 1, is hereby amended.
