Bush Presidential Library and Museum from Oct. 21 to Jan. 4. Titled “College Station: A
Community History,” the exhibit features local memorabilia, artifacts and stories that
capture the unique history of College Station, Texas, from the time leading up to its
incorporation in 1938 to today. Displayed items are grouped into sections that highlight
legacy families, homes, schools, businesses, media and government in College Station
during its growth from an outlying rural area to a city of nearly 100,000 in population.
Sponsored in part by the City of College Station and Union Pacific Railroad, the Bush Library
will offer free public admission to the city exhibit Nov. 16-17. On all other days, standard
museum rates apply. Visitors and residents are also welcome to join in celebrating College
Station’s heritage with a series of related events in November, including:
Classic Film Series – Thursday, Nov. 14
Show begins 7 p.m., Annenberg Presidential Conference Center
The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum’s classic film series presents “We’ve
Never Been Licked,” a 1943 film produced by Walter Wanger. Parts of the film were shot at
the Texas A&M University campus and reference many school traditions. The event includes
free popcorn, Pepsi products and candy. Refreshments will be available beginning at 6 p.m.
and the show begins at 7 p.m. in the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center's Hagler
Auditorium. This event is free to the public.
Homecoming Event – Friday, Nov. 15
6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Southwood Community Center
College Station’s A&M Consolidated High School alumni groups will host a BBQ dinner with
live music by Chris Austin-Martinez (AMCHS '84) at Southwood Community Center in Brian
Bachmann Community Park. Tickets are $12 and must be purchased in advance. Contact

Community Celebration – Saturday, Nov. 16
10 a.m. to 4 p.m., George Bush Presidential Library and Museum
The Community Celebration event at the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum
features free public admission to the city exhibit, mini-train rides by title sponsor Union
Pacific, a vintage car show, community storytelling and many more family-friendly activities.
