Special City Council Meeting
December 29, 1976

Mayor Bravenec; Councilmen Ringer, Gardner, Stephenson,
Hazen; Assistant Snider

Agenda Item No. 1 -- Consideration of an ord~i, nance s.e. tting the p~olling pla. ces
for city elections.
Assistant Snider stated that the city staff was pressed for time in preparing
the Council District submittal to the Justice Department, and that since the
polling places would be a change from past elections, the new places needed
to be designated for the submission.
Councilman Stephenson stated that he felt that a public building should be
utilized whenever possible.
Councilman Stephenson moved to accept Lincoln Center as the polling place for
Council District 3. The motion was seconded by Councilman Ringer and passed
unanimously.
Councilman Stephenson moved to approve Ordinance No. 1058 setting polling
places for city elections.
The motion was seconded by Councilman Gardner and unanimously approved.
Mayor Bravenec introduced Mr. Armand Frank, President-elect of the Bryan-College
Station Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Frank thanked the Council for the invitation to attend the meeting and
stated that he hoped to work closely with the Council in the coming year.
Mr. Sparky Hardee spoke, asking the Council to consider carefully, all ordinances
relating to local businesses. He stated that costs incurred by Council actions
were expensive.
