Hervey; Councilmen Fred Brison~ Homer Adams~ Don Dale, J. D. Lindsay and C. A. Bonnen; City Manager Ran Boswell; and City Attorney James Dozier. MEMBERS ABSENT: Councilman R. D. Radeleff. VISITORS PRESENT: Charles Pinnell of Pinnell-Anderson-Wilshire Associates. A special council meeting was called to order at 4:30 P.M. on May 18, 1973 by Mayor Hervey. The purpose of the meeting was to receive the Fire Department Study from Mr. Pinnell, discuss the telephone company rate case and the motel- hotel room tax. After Mr. Pinnel had presented his fire study report to the council~ Mayor Hervey suggested that a committee consisting of Mayor Hervey~ City Manager Boswell, and Councilmen J. D. Lindsay~ C. A. Bonnen and Fred Brison meet with Fire Chief Sevison and explain what the city council would expect of him in the operation of the Fire Department. The meeting with Chief Sevison was called for 4:00 P.M. May 21~ 1973. City Attorney Dozier brought up the question of securing the service of an attorney to assist in the telephone rate case. On motion by Councilman Adams, seconded by Councilman Dale~ City Attorney Dozier was given the authority to employ John Lawrence providing it meets with the approval of the city council of the City of Bryan. The vote for the motion was unanimous. City Attorney Dozier was directed to check the state law as how money could be used that would be derived from the hotel-motel room tax. On motion of Councilman Dale, seconded by Councilman Brison, City Manager Boswell was requested to contact Don Dillon concerning quit claim deeds on abandoned railroad property from Jersey Street to Luther Street.
