Holt; Councilmen C. H. Ransdell, Dan R. Davis, James H. Dozier, Joseph J. McGraw, and Bill J. Cooley; City Manager Ran Boswell Members Absent: Mayor D. A. Anderson Visitors Present: C. R. Watson, Grady Parker, Michael Harney, Ray E. Abbott, Mr. Barsh of Barsh Construction Company, and Pat Lester Mayor Pro tem Holt called the meeting to order at 5:20 p. m. in the Council Room of the City Hall. Mr. C. R. Watson, Architect, presented the proposals for changes and modifi- cations to plans and specifications for the City Hall and Police -Fire Station, College Station, Texas. Councilman Ransdell made a motion to accept the bid of Barsh Construction Company of Waco, including City Hall and Police and Fire Station Headquarters and paving, with changes and modifications of the plans listed as follows: 1. To change all specified acoustical ceiling materials and systems to a 2' x 4' exposed baked white enamel grid system with 5/8" Class "A" Fissured Mineral board; deduct from our base bid proposal the sum of $1, 500. 00. 2. To change all ceramic tile on walls to a 4' high ceramic tile wainscoat in all areas except showers in Police & Fire Station. Showers to remain ceramic tile full 8' wall height. Wall above ceramic tile wainscoat to be textured gypsum board with enamel paint. For this change, deduct from our base bid proposal the sum of $1,275.00. 3. To delete 1/2" birch plywood with 3/4" x 3/4" birch battens at all walls at Council Room and Foyer Area, and on front of Council Table. Install on all of these areas 1/2" gypsum board and 1/4" Georgia-Pacific Inlaid Prefinished Paneling. Prefinished paneling to be applied over gypsum with adhesive. For this change, deduct from our base bid the sum of $575. 00. 01.1.43 /06 Minutes of Special Council Meeting I April 7, 1969 Page 2 4. To change specified wood doors to standard 2 -year guaranteed solid core doors to a good grade birch veneer and matching edges, all transoms to have mill option edges, deduct from our base bid the sum of $634. 00. 5. To change all gypsum board on dry wall partitions from 5/8" thick firecode to 1/2" thick standard gypsum board, deduct from our base bid proposal the sum of $525. 00. ( THIS ITEM NOT ACCEPTABLE ). 6. To delete entirely the furnishing and installing of the specified refrigerator for the kitchen in the Police and Fire Station, deduct from our base bid proposal the sum of $499. 00. 7. To change specified flag poles to 30' aluminum tapered flag poles equal to U. S. Post Office Department standard specifications, deduct from our base bid proposal the sum of $75. 00. 8. To delete all vinyl wall covering specified and to texture and paint gypsum wall board in lieu thereof, deduct from our base bid proposal the sum of $2,300. 00. ( THIS ITEM NOT ACCEPTABLE ). 9. To change specified aluminum window sections as per details for Fentron Series 310 -FT, details attached, deduct from our original bid the sum of $1, 780. 00. To use aluminum window sections as per Fentron Ribbon Series 471 with applied vents, details attached, deduct from our original bid the sum of $970. 00. 10. Change roofing as specified to the following: 1/2" rigid roof insulation, 2 plys double coated, 40 lb. felt, mopped with steep asphalt and gravel with dead level bitumen. If this proposal is accepted, deduct from our base bid the sum of $1, 325. 00. 11. Delete architectural design on precast wall panels on entire north elevation of Police & Fire Station. Precast panels to be plain 8" thick load bearing concrete panels. For this change, deduct from our base bid proposal the sum of $2,700. 00. ( adding stucco ) 12. Delete special aggregate stucco finish on splayed walls on exterior walls of Council Room, and finish splayed wall with white oriental stucco. For this change, deduct from our base bid proposal the sum of $265. 00. ( THIS ITEM NOT ACCEPTABLE ). 01144 /0 r/ Minutes of Special Council Meeting April 7, 1969 Page 3 13. Storm Sewer Changes, deduct from the base bid proposal the sum of $1,500.00. 14. Electrical Changes, deduct from the base bid proposal the sum of $650.00. COST: $315,929 - Buildings $ 17, 242 -Paving TOTAL $333,171 Councilman Cooley seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. Councilman Davis made the motion to award the contract to Barsh Construction Company of Waco, pending the confirmation of the sub -contractors for the electrical and storm sewer changes, Items #13 and 14.
