Members Present: Mayor D. A. Anderson; Councilmen Bill J. Cooley,
James H. Dozier, Robert R. Rhodes, Dr. O. M• Holt,
Dan R. Davis, and C. H. Ransdell; City Manager Ran
Boswell; and City Secretary Lynda Swoveland
Members Absent: None
The Mayor called the meeting to order in a special session at 6:30 P.M. at the
City Hall in College Station, Texas.
The purpose of this special session was to discuss omissions and corrections
needed in Ordinance 608, an Ordinance providing for a ..Master Plan for Principal
Streets and their construction, as passed at the Council Meeting of January 27, 1969.
The first item noted for correction by the Mayor was Section 13. He recommended
that the policy adopted by the Council and appearing in the May 27, 1968 Council Meeting
Minutes be substituted in lieu of the present wording. On motion by Councilman Holt,
seconded by Councilman Dozier, this policy statement was adopted to substitute for
the wording under Section 13. Motion carried.
On motion by Councilman Holt, seconded by Councilman Davis, the first reference
to street width in Section 10, Item (2) (d) was amended to read as follows:
"No residential driveway approach shall exceed 18 feet in width. "
Motion carried.
On motion by Councilman Holt, seconded by Councilman Dozier, Section 10, Item (2)
(d) was amended so as to delete the wording "No other entrance shall exceed 18 feet in
width. " This motion carried with it the revision of the third sentence as follows:
"No combined entrance and exit shall exceed 36 feet in width, except that the
City Engineer may issue permits for driveway approaches up to 44 feet in
width on major streets, to handle special traffic conditions. "
Motion carried. Councilman Ransdell voted no.

On motion by Councilman Holt, seconded by Councilman Davis, a portion of the
wording in Section 10, Item (4) - Street Structures, was amended as follows:
"--the City Engineer is authorized to order and effect the removal or re-
construction of any driveway approach which is constructed in conflict
with street structures. The cost --"
Motion carried.
Upon recommendation of the Mayor, Councilman Holt moved, seconded by
Councilman Davis, that Section 8 be amended by adding the following sentence:
"The Council may, however, at its discretion, when a situation warrants
such, arrange for construction without a signed petition. "
Motion carried.
Councilman Dozier recommended that the statement "Unusual Conditions", Section
10, Item (7) be given a SECTION status as SECTION 15 with Sections now designated
from SECTION 15 to SECTION 18 be re -numbered to SECTIONS 16 through 19. Council
concurred in the action.
On motion by Councilman Holt, seconded by Councilman Rhodes, the last sentence
in "DRIVEWAY APPROACH" under SECTION 3 - DEFINITIONS, was amended to read
as follows:
"--a driveway or a door at least 8 feet in width, intended and used for
entrance of vehicles".
Motion carried.
On motion by Councilman Dozier, seconded by Councilman Ransdell, Ordinance
No. 608 with all of the revisions cited herein, was approved. Motion carried. The
City Manager was then asked by the Mayor to do the necessary advertising, as a
legal notice, of this revised Ordinance.

The City Manager asked the Council for approval to effectuate the purchase of the
Fannie Putz property and to obtain deeds for the land. On motion by Councilman Dozier,
seconded by Councilman Cooley, the City Manager was given the authority to proceed
with purchase of right of way on the Putz property. Motion carried. The City Manager
stated that the City Attorney would draw up the deed and would incorporate in said deed
a statement to the effect that the additional consideration granted and that no assessment
for paving or gutter on original street improvements will be made by the City.
Councilman Ransdell moved the meeting adjourn, subject to call.
