CITY OF COLLEGE STATION
MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING
July 17, 1967
Members Present: Mayor Anderson,; Councilmen Adams, Holt, Rhodes, Boyett, Cooley,
and Rosprim; City Manager Boswell
Visitors Present: J. O. Alexander
On a motion by Councilman Cooley, seconded by Councilman Boyett, a Resolu-
tion authorizing the Mayor to execute a Contract on behalf of the City with the Wellborn Wa-
ter Supply Corporation was unanimously approved. A copy of said Resolution is appended
hereto as part of these minutes.
Prior to voting on the Resolution, the Council reviewed the proposed contract,
agreeing to changes on page 3, paragraphs 1, 2, and 3 under the heading, " It is further
mutually agreed between the City and the Corporation as follows, " to wit: That the wording
in paragraph 1 "for a term of two years" be deleted and that the word "for" be changed to
"from"; that there be added to the end of paragraph 2 the wording "This date shall in no event
occur before an adequate supply of water is available, as determined by the City;" and that
a period be placed following wording "reduced or diminished, " with the remainder of the
last sentence to be omitted.
With the concurrence of the Council, the Mayor appointed a committee made up
of Councilmen Adams and Holt to contact the University and ascertain their views with res-
pect to cooperatively seeking the services of a consulting engineer to explore the possibility
of a water source.
On a motion of Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman Rhodes, a Resolu-
tion requesting concurrence of the Department of Housing and Urban Development in award-
ing contract to Bering Tank Division, Inc. of Dallas for elevated water tank was unanimously
approved.
Meeting was closed, subject to call, following agreement to have a meeting with
Joe Hanover of the Texas Highway Department relative to Sulphur Springs Road.

RESOLUTION
A resolution requesting concurrence of the Department of Housing and Urban
Development in awarding contract to Bering Tank Division, Inc. of Dallas,
Texas for elevated water tank.
WHEREAS, the City of College Station has entered into a contract with
Bering Tank Division, Inc. of Dallas, Texas for the installation of a one
million gallon elevated water tank in the amount of $229,000.00, and
WHEREAS, there has been a delay in preparing plans and specifications
for the ground storage tank and pump station and pipe lines, and
WHEREAS, the time of completion of the elevated storage tank will be
greater than that of the ground storage and pump station and pipe lines, and
WHEREAS, the present city's water system is inadequate, and
WHEREAS, the City of College Station has funds available to pay the cost
of the elevated storage tank contract,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of College
Station, Texas that the Department of Housing and Urban Development be made
aware of the problem and request concurrence in awarding the contract to Bering
Tank Division, Inc.
