M Mayor Langford made the fallowing statement relative to his not being a candidate for re-election to the office of mayor: Come the municipal election of next April 5, I will have devoted more than twenty-seven years to the welfare of the city of College Station, For twenty-four of those years I will have served as mayor --an honor for which I fail to find words to express my appreciation. I feel that the time has come to pass the responsi- bility of that office to other hands and therefore take this occasion to state that I will not be a candidate for re-election next April. College Station has come a long way in those twenty- seven years. There is still much to be done. The simple fact that I am relinquishing the office of mayor in no way means that my interest in the city's growth and development is coming to an end. The future is too important for any citizen to adopt that attitude.
