Members present: Mayor Anderson; Councilmen Holt, Boyett, Rhodes, Adams,
Rosprim; City Manager Boswell.
A special meeting was called.of the city council for the purpose of

officially appointing a city secretary and city attorney, to firm up the duties
E�d and responsibilities of the committees appointed at the regular meeting of
`) April 25, and to hear a report from Councilman Holt relative to fire protection.

On motion by Councilman Rhodes, seconded by Councilman Holt, and unanimously
approved by the council, Mr. Don Dillon was appointed as city attorney and
Charles F. Richardson as city secretary.

X A proposal relative to the duties and responsibilities of the City Planning
0 and Zoning Commission was submitted by Councilman Holt for consideration by the
0 council. On motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman Rhodes, the
M proposal was adopted.
Councilman Rhodes presented a proposal to the council on the Industrial
Development Committeeis scope and purpose. On motion by Councilman Holt, seconded
by Councilman Adams, the report was adopted.
A proposal was presented to the council by Councilman Boyett on the proposed
charge to the City Cemetery Committee. On motion by Councilman Holt, seconded
I' by Councilman Adams, the policy regarding the City Cemetery Committee was adopted.
A proposal on the duties and responsibilities of the City Parks Committee,
was submitted to the council by Mayor Anderson. On motion by Councilman Boyett,
seconded by Councilman Rosprim, the policy regarding the City Parks Board was
approved by the council.
As to the Airport Zoning Board, Ordinance No. 415 was deemed by the council
as a sufficient charge to the two representatives from the city of College
Station that 6re serving on this board.
A report on fire protection was given by Councilman Holt based onr.a recent
meeting of the City -A & M University Fire Protection Committee. The report
covered a new system of alerting firemen, the cost of man hours involved in fire
I� fighting, and the cost of maintaining equipment. On motion by Councilman Rhodes,
seconded by Councilman Rosprim, the council concurred in the preliminary recom-
mendations made by Councilman Holt except for the new method of radio alert which
is to be given further study.
Lei The council discussed the need to come to some decision immediately relative
Ln to the electrical rate for budgetory purposes. John Denison will be consulted.
LLJ The matter is to be placed on the agenda for action at the next regular council
LL. meeting.
The Bryan City Commission is planning to meet -'with representatives of the
Mid -West Video Corporation on May 10 at which time the franchise will be discussed.

It was agreed by the council that they would meet with the Bryan City Commission
on this date upon their invitation.
City Manager Ran Boswell solicited the views of the council relative to
the road that would meet with the eabt by-pass. On motion by Councilman Holt,
seconded by 'Councilman Rhodes, Sulphur Springs Road was viewed by the council
as the desirable entering street to the East Loop. The recommendation of the
Planning and Zoning Commission was to be sought however by the city manager.
The meeting was adjourned subject to call.
