HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/06/1965 - Joint Minutes - City CouncilMINUTES OF JOINT.MEEI'ING OF CITY COUNCIL AND CITY PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION May 6, 1965 Members Present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Orr, Boyett, Holt, Rhodes, (City Council) Holleman; City Manager Boswell. Members. Present: Messrs. E. E. Burns, D. A. Anderson, J. W. Sorenson, R. F. (City Planning and White, Charles Richardson. Zoning Commission) The city manager was directed to look into the possibility of a cul-de-sac at the west end of Patricia Street. The question of the proposed bypass to the east was tabled pending further consideration. On motion by Councilman Holt, seconded by Councilman Orr, the recommenda- tions of the City Planning and Zoning Commission of April 20, 1965, were accepted with the further stipulation that the city council confer with Mr. Raymond Nolan, County Commissioner of Precinct No. 1, within the next two weeks on the question of extending County Road from Glade Street to.Highway 6. On motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman Holt, the recom- mendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission that Lots 1, 2, 3, and a part of Lot /,, Block 19, Boyett Survey, be retained as District No. 2, Second Dwell- ing House District, was approved. On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman. Holleman, the "Organ- ization and Status of Permanent Committees Concerned with Planning and Develop- ment in the City of College Station, Texas,?' was approved with the provision that said statement be made a part of these minutes and copies sent to the membership of the committees. The question of the proposed new sub -division ordinance was tabled for Further study. 4 �Ilk5� �/A Mayor �- ATTEST: �,'� -2 r City Secretary / Organization and Status of Permanent Committees Concerned with Planning and Development in the City of College Station, Texas A. Industrial Development Committee: This committee shall be composed of seven members, six of whom shall be appointed for terms as followsi two for one year, two for two years, and two for three years. 2. Upon recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission, the city council will appoint a member of said commission to member- ship on the Industrial Development Committee for a term of two years. 3. Objectives of the Industrial Development Committee shall be: a. To collect and formalize pertinent information relative to resources available; i.e.., water, light, gas, technical facilities and skills. b. To prepare a brochure setting forth advantages of this area, c. To study the types of industries which would be compatible to the community. d. To study the possibility and desirability of establishing an industrial foundation or other organization to assist in and encourage the location of industry. e. To pursue initial contacts with such industries as may be desirable for the city of College Station or as may be prescribed by ordinance. (Such contacts should be referred to the city council for further consideration and guidance.) B. Parks Board Upon recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission, the city council will appoint a member of said commission to member- ship on the Parks Board for a term of two years. 2. The Parks Board shall feel perfectly free to consult with the Planning and Zoning Commission at any time about any matters as regards beautification and recreation facilities in the city. C. Planning and Zoning Commission I. The Commission shall prepare minutes of its meetings and distri- bute copies to each of its members. 00'' D. General 1. The Planning and Zoning Commission, Industrial Development Committee, and the Parks Board will File copies of the minutes of their respective meetings with the city council and with the chairman of the other two committees. 2. Appointments to membership on the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Industrial Development Committee, and the Parks Board, shall be made by the city council, and all terms of office shall begin on May 1 of the year of appointment, 3. The foregoing stipulations are in addition to all previously approved resolutions and directions pertaining to the three groups concerned. Approved May 6, 1965 /'M
