January 25, 1965
Members Present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Rosprim, Boyett, Holleman, Holt,
Rhodes, Orr; City Attorney Sandstedt, City Secretary Manning,

Ul Minutes of meeting of December 17, 1964, were approved.
0 On motion by Councilman Holt, seconded by Councilman Boyett, a resolution
authorizing Councilman Orr and City Manager Boswell to represent the city in
negotiations with officials of the city of Bryan relative to the apportionment
rx: of the overlapped area of extraterritorial jurisdiction was approved.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Rhodes, Councilman
".q Holt and -City Manager Boswell were appointed to represent the city on a joint
city -university committee in the matter of fire protection, cost, and policy.
On motion by Councilman Holt, seconded by Councilman Holleman, appoint-
ment of North B. Bardell, Jr. and H. P. Murray to the joint airport zoning
board was approved.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Holleman, the Bee
Creek drainage improvements and Thomas Street crossing bids were rejected and
new bids on the same project will be taken at a later date.
Mayor Langford was authorized to arrange for a meeting of the council and
a representative of Homer A. Hunter & Associates for a joint dinner meeting
to discuss their water system improvements engineering report.
On motion by Councilman Holleman, seconded by Councilman Orr, the pro-
posed channelization of the intersection of Highway 6 and Jersey Street was
accepted and the Highway Department requested to expedite this work at the
earliest possible time.
410 On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Holleman, the city
P manager was authorized to employ engineering services for the study and
design of traffic flow on Jersey Street and Kyle Street at the intersection
i` of Highway 6, including the design of traffic signalization.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Holt, Ordinance No.
4211, an ordinance relating to speed zones, which specifically designates
Ld additional areas in the city of College Station in which rates of speed of
n thirty (30) miles per hour or more authorized, was approved.
Ul On motion by Councilman Holt, seconded by Councilman Orr, the College
CL Station Kiwanis Club was commended for its participation in our city beau-
tification program.

} On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Holleman, the mayor and
city manager were authorized to employ whatever services are necessary to deter-
mine the cost of generating power, and to consult with John Denison on a study
of electrical rates.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Rhodes, the council
requests the'Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce to assist the city in
every way possible to obtain industry, particularly those industries that could
be closely related to research carried on at the university.
The council adjourned subject to call.

RESOLUTION
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEKAS:
That Councilman J. A. Orr and City Manager Ran Boswell of the city of
College Station, Texas, be, and they are hereby, authorized and directed to
enter into negotiations with officials of the city of Bryan, Texas, relative
to the apportionment of the overlapped area of extraterritorial jurisdiction
of the city of College Station, Texas, and the city of Bryan, Texas, as
provided in the Municipal Annexation Act (Chapter 160, Acts of the 58th
Legislature, Regular Session, 1963; compiled as 970a, Vernon's Texas Civil
Statutes); and
BE IT FURTHER, RESOLVED that Councilman J. A. Orr and City Manager
Ran Boswell of the city of College Station, Texas, be, and they are hereby,
authorized and empowered to enter into a written agreement with an official
of the city of Bryan, Texas, effecting the apportionment of such overlapped
area of extraterritorial jurisdiction between the two cities; provided how-
ever, such agreement in writing shall become effective only upon ratifica-
tion and approval by the governing bodies of both such cities.
