MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
January 27, 1964
Members Present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Sorrels, Boyett, Rosprim, Orr,
Landiss, Rhodes; City Attorney Sandstedt, City Manager
Boswell.
Visitors Present: Ronnie Holiday, Britt Martin.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, city
officials were instructed to enforce Ordinance No. 382 which became effective
January 1, 1964.
On motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, Ordi-
nance No. 386, an ordinance regulating animals and fowl running at large,
providing for impounding and for sale or disposition of impounded animals
and repealing Ordinance No. 248, was passed and approved.
On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, the
mayor was instructed to write B -W Construction Co. a letter expressing the
council's displeasure with the manner in which the paving contract has
been handled.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, the city
manager was instructed to include a penalty clause of not less than $50.
nor more than $100. in future street improvment contracts.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, the city
manager was instructed to prepare plans and specifications for improvements
to Francis Drive from Munson to Highway 6, said improvements to include a
37 foot street with concrete curbs and gutters and to be included in the
1964 street improvment program. Property owners living along Francis
Drive are to be notified within thirty days.
On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Orr, the city
manager was instructed to prepare plans and specifications for non -curb
improvements on Park Place from FM 2154 to Hereford Street, said improvements
to have a minimum width of 24 feet, a limestone base, and to be included in
the 1964 street improvement program.
The mayor was instructed to write Mr. C. B. Thames, District Highway
Engineer, about the feasibility of the installation of traffic control
signals at the intersection of Highway 6 and Jersey St.
The council adjourned subject to call.
