MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
February 25, 1963
Members Present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Rosprim, Boyett, Orr, Landiss,
Anderson, Sorrels; City Attorney Sandstedt, City Manager
Boswell.
Visitors Present: John Brayton, Edward Madeley, J. H. Pruitt, B. F. Liles,
Sam Rizzo, Bob Stewart.
City Secretary Manning was excused from this meeting.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the pre-
liminary plat of resubdivision of part of Lots 9 and 10, Woodland Estates,
was tabled until certificate of title of ownership is presented to the
council.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, Ordinance
No. 361, an ordinance ordering a general municipal election, was passed and
approved.
On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Landiss, Ordi-
nance No. 362, an ordinance appointing a board of equalization for the year
1963, was passed and approved. H. E. Hampton, W. I. Truetner, and R. L.
Elkins were appointed as the board of equalization for 1963.
On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Landiss, the
preliminary plat of Carter's Grove, Second Installment, was accepted by the
c ounc i .l .
On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, Ordi-
nance No. 363, an ordinance for improvement of Dexter Drive, was passed and
approved.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Landiss, prior action
approving Ordinance No. 363 was rescinded.
On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Orr, the petition
for improvement of Pershing Avenue was changed to read from Jersey Street to
the Woodson Village Subdivision.
On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Orr, Ordinance
No. 363 was amended by inserting the words "and Pershing Avenue" following
the words "Dexter Drive" and by changing the word "gravel" to "limestone" in
Section III.
On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Anderson_,' Ordi-.'

nance No. 363, an ordinance ordering certain improvements on Dexter Drive
(M-) and Pershing Avenue, was passed and approved.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the council
accepted the offer of A & M College to install a signal light at the inter-
section of Houston Street and PM 60 at no cost to the city, and instructed
the city manager to work with college officials in arranging for installation

of said light.
W On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Landiss, the
V) request to rezone Lots 4, 5, 6, Block 9 of the West Park Addition was denied
W because of objections to rezoning by adjacent property owners.

Cb The request of Mr. J. C. Culpepper to trade two acres of land in Carter's
Grove for two park areas in College Hills was referred to a committee composed
of the councilmen from Ward II and City Attorney Sandstedt for further study
