MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
August 26, 1963
Members Present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Boyett, Rosprim, Sorrels, Orr,
Rhodes; City Attorney Sandstedt, City Manager Boswell.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Rosprim, Councilman
Landiss,and City Secretary Manning were excused from attending this meeting.
On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Rosprim, Ordi-
nance No. 379, an ordinance providing for a public hearing on the question
of rezoning part of lots 31 and 32 in the D. A. Smith Subdivision presently
zoned as District No. 2, Second Business District and District No. 3, Apart-
ment House District, to District No. 4, First Business District, was passed
and approved.
On motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman Rhodes, the
council granted the request of the Bank of Commerce to erect a sign on their
property but with these conditions: (1) the sign shall not be larger than
6 X 10 feet; (2) it shall bear only the words "This is the future site of
the Bank of Commerce"; (3) it must be removed on or before September 1, 1964.
On motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, the
city manager was authorized to transfer $10,000 in time accounts to the
Bank of Commerce.
The council discussed Councilman Rhodes• memorandum concerning the
policy on street lighting. It was agreed that at some date in the near
future such policy will be given publicity in the press and on radio and/or
television so the public will be familar with this policy.
The city attorney was again instructed to investigate the position the
city may take concerning the park areas in College Hills Estates Addition.
The council adjourned subject to call.
