MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
JUNE 15, 1962
Members Present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Orr, Boyett, Rosprim, Anderson,
Landiss, City Secretary Manning, City Manager Boswell.
Visitors Present: Ernest L. Brown, Jr. and Mrs. Brown, Dave Mayo, Jack M.
Barker, Ed Robinson, representative of KBTX television
and representative of Bryan,Daily Eagle.
Minutes of previous meeting were approved.
The first order of business was a public hearing on the proposed budget
for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1962.
On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Anderson, Ordi-
nance No. 344, an ordinance adopting a budget for the 1962-63 fiscal year
and authorizing expenditures as therein provided, was passed and approved.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Landiss, Ordinance
No. 345, an ordinance levying taxes for the use and support of the municipal
government of the City of College Station, was passed and approved.
On motion,by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Rosprim, Ordi-
nance No. 349, an ordinance authorizing and directing the advertisement of
the sale of City of College Station, Texas, Revenue Bonds, was passed and
approved. Advertisement for bids on these bonds will be published in the
Battalion on June 28 and July 5, 1962.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Landiss, the city of
College Station entered into contract with Ernest L. Brown, Jr., agreeing to
pay him an annual retainer fee of $360.
On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Landiss, the
bid of the Jack M. Barker Construction Co. in the amount of $33,432.90 for
improvements on Fairview Avenue was accepted.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Anderson, Ordinance
No. 346, an ordinance determining to assess a part of the cost of improving
Fairview Avenue and providing for notice of public hearing, was passed and
approved. The public hearing was set for 7:00 p.m. July 20, 1962.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Landiss, Ordinance
No. 347, an ordinance changing the name of East Dexter Drive South and Dexter
Drive South in the city of College Station to Dexter Drive South, was passed
and approved.
On motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman Rosprim, Ordinance

No. 348, an ordinance providing for a public hearing on the question of re-
zoning a strip of land in the Gorzycki Addition 115' X approximately 1,400'
® for District No. 2, second dwelling house district to District No. 5, second
business district, was passed and approved. A public hearing was set for

July 20, 1962.
On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Orr, the
city attorney was directed to prepare an ordinance for better protection
against window peepers.

UJ On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Landiss, the
U) city attorney was directed to make the necessary changes in the wording of
UJ Section 91 of Ordinance No. 167, to permit the police to make arrests for
Q_ passing school buses within the city limits of College Station.

2 On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the
D final plat of the first installment of Carter's Grove Subdivision to the
X city of College Station was approved. The vote on the motion was unanimous.
