A RFS(~UTION AUTHORIZING
APPLICATION FOR GRANT TO SUPPORT AUGMENTATION OF
JUVENILE UNIT
the dynamic growth of the City of College Station in recent
years has not been without attendant problems with juvenile
delinquency and crime, and;
the Criminal Justice Division, Office of the Governor, has
assisted the City of College Station in establishing a
juvenile unit within the Police Department to cope with the
juvenile problems, and;
a need continues in the Police Department for a specially
trained juvenile unit to work with predelinquent juveniles
with the view of diverting problem youth from the juvenile
justice system to coammmity-based resource agencies;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COTJ,EGE STATICN, TEXAS, at its meeting on the llth day of
March , 1982, that:
The Mayor/City Manager be authorized on behalf of the
City Council to make application to the Criminal Justice
Division, Office of the Governor, for a grant of Eleven
Thousand and Thirty Eight dollars ($11,038) to support
the continued augmentation of the juvenile unit of the
Police Department with an additional officer.

The $~yor/City Manager be authorized on behalf of the
City Council to accept such grant award should it be
tendered.
3. This Resolution becomes effective upon adoption and its
recording in the Minutes of the City Council is ordered.
