WORKSHOP CITY COUNCIL MEETING
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 26, 1985
4:00 P.M.
COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT:
Mayor Halter, Councilmen Boughton,
Bond, Brown, McIlhaney, Runnels, Tongco
COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: None

The meeting was called to order with Councilman Bond absent.
Agenda Item No. 1 - Council concerns.
Councilman Boughton reiterated that the three street lights pre-
viously reported as being out, are still not working.
Assistant City Manager VanDever stated that the staff is address-
ing the problem.
Councilman Tongco expressed her appreciation to the staff for the
promptness exhibited in getting information back to her when re-
quested.
Councilman McIlhaney asked what type of work the Highway Depart-
ment is doing on the East Bypass frontage roads.
Director of Capital Improvements Ash stated that the Highway De-
partment is rebuilding the frontage roads in the failed sections.
Councilman Brown stated that the Emerald Forest Homeowners Asso-
ciation has requested the city to erect stop signs at the more
heavily traveled intersections in the subdivision, such as: (1)
the intersection at Rosewood and Appomattox; and, (2) the inter-
section at Appomattox and Emerald Forest Parkway.
Director of Capital Improvements Ash stated that he would ask the
Traffic Engineer to check the traffic patterns and install signs
where they are warranted.
Mayor Halter mentioned that City Manager Bardell would be off the
remainder of the week due to some physical problems with his
knee.

1. Discussion of Administrative Appointments.
Councilman Bond arrived at the meeting.
The Council moved to closed session and later reopened to the
public.
A~enda Item No. 3 - Action on closed session.
Councilman Runnels moved to hire the firm of Ralph Anderson &
Associates to perform background checks on candidates for the
city manager position.
Councilman Brown seconded the motion which was approved unani-
mously, 7-0.
A~enda Item No. 4 - Adjourn.
Mayor Halter adjourned the meeting.
