HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-12-86-09 - Resolution - 06/12/1986 RESOLUTION NO. 06-12-86-09 ~'" ..~ ~/ WHEREAS, on April 27, 1970, the City Council of the City of Col- lege Station, Texas, by virtue of its powers as enumera- ted in the City Charter and the Laws of the State of Texas, did create a citizens advisory committee to be known as the Safety Committee; and WHEREAS, the concern of the Safety Committee was to be directed to matters of safety on the highways and at intersec- tions in the city, and in all matters of public safety, and to make recommendations on these matters to the City Council; and WHEREAS, the City Council when creating said Safety Committee WHEREAS, ~ .... acknowledged the desirability of having, as a co~ittee . , '~ ~ ~,~ member, a traffic engineer and planner who would agree~"/ to render assistance to the Committee since no traffic engineer at that time served on the city staff; and ~.~ . , has enerated a com lexit of traffic-related decisions ~.~-~ g P Y -~.,:., which are deemed to be beyond the scope of the charge given to the committee and usually must be'investigated i'~'~-~',;~ and considered at a professional level; and WHEREA~, the current engineering staff of the City of College Station includes a traffic' engineer committed to plan-_ ~'~,,~'~"' ning and implementing a safe traffic plan for use by tne~..~._ citizens of College Station. .~ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY ~,'l:" OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, THAT the traffic problems leading to the creation of a Safety Committee are now attended to by a professional staff, thus alleviating the need of the c~t~zen volunteer to give special effort to this task; THAT the planning and safe level of operation achieved by the City of College Station is largely due to the accomplishments of ~-~-.~, the c~t~zens who, as comm~tteemembers, have unselfishly g~ven time, consideration, and advice when called upon by the City Council; !~_,.~..~;' THAT all past members of the College Station Safety Committee are due the appreciation and respect of the citizens of this community for a job well aone; and i~',' 005741 '~: ~ /.,,' THAT the acm and responszblllty of the Safety Commzttee having ~ been successfully completed, the Co~ittee shall be and hereby ~ is abolished as a standing committee of the City of College ~ Station, Texas. ~%% ~'~ PASSED AND APPROVED this the ~ day of June , 1986 ~.. .
