A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR A GRANT TO
IMPLEMENT A CRIME PREVENTION PROGP~M
WHEREAS, the dynamic growth of the City of College Station
in recent years has not been without attendant
problems pertaining to Crimes Against Children;
and,
WHEREAS, the Criminal Justice Division, Office of the Gover-
nor, has assisted the City of College Station in
establishing a crime prevention program within the
Police Department to cope with the attendant rise
in crimes against children; and,
WHEREAS, a need continues in the Police Department for a
specially trained crime prevention unit to develop
and present programs through school presentations
and seminars to instruct parents and children in
means and ways they can employ to lessen their
chances of becoming a victim of these crimes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS at its meeting on
the 26th day of March, 1986, that:
The Mayor/City Manager be authorized on behalf of the
City Council to make application to the Criminal
Justice Division, Office of the Governor, for a
grant of $2409 to support the Crime Prevention
Program with the purchase of equipment, repr¢
and printing and training.
The Mayor/City Manager be authorized on behalf of the
City Council to accept such grant award should it
be tendered.
This Resolution becomes effective upon adoption and its
recording in the Minutes of the City Council is
ordered.
PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 26th DAY OF March, 1986.
