AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE USE OF A POLICE POLICY MANUAL BY THE
CITY OF COLLEGE STATION POLICE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, on May 9, 1984, the City Council reviewed a proposed
police policy manual, which manual is to be used by the College
Station Police Department in the execution and performance of its
duties;
WHEREAS, on June 14, 1984, the City Council was presented with a
final copy of the police policy manual and that said manual
imposes all the required duties upon the Police Department. It
was further decided that any deviation from the requirements of
the police policy manual by any officer within the department
would subject the officer in violation of the manual to
disciplinary action;
WHEREAS, this manual was prepared in order to avoid having any
unwritten policy which would subject the Council to liability
under 14 U.S.C.A., Section 1983; and
WHEREAS, any changes or additions to this policy manual will be
presented to the Mayor and City Manager in accordance with the
requirements in the manual;
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF CITY OF COLLEGE
STATION, TEXAS:
That the police policy manual is adopted by the City Council and
as such is the only policy, written or unwritten, for the City of
ColleGe Station Police Department.
