October 9, 1951
The City Council met in a regular session October 9, 1951,
at 6:30 p.m. with the following present: Mayor Langford; Council-
men Badgett, Boyer, Boyett, Fitch, Halpin, and Orr; City Attorney
Barger; City Manager Rogers, and City Secretary McGinnis.
This meeting was held in the Memorial Student Center and dinner
was served to the Council and invited guests.
The invited guests for this dinner meeting were: A. A. Price,
A. C. Magee, J. H. Sorrels, C. A. Bonnen, R. H. Rogers, D. B. Cofer,
H. B. Adams, F. L. Thomas, and Homer Hunter.
Mr. Homer Hunter, an Engineer employed by the City to make
a study of, and make recommendations pertaining to, the City's
sewerage disposal problems, explained his engineering studies
and the map accompanying his report.
The Councilmen and g4ests asked Mr. Hunter many questions
pertaining to his map and report.
Several copies of Mr. Hunter's report were filed in the
City Office.
Mr. Barger discussed several legal phases of the proposed
new "Home -rule" charter which will be submitted to the voters of
the City for acceptance, or rejection, as soon as the Charter Comm-
ittee can complete its work in the preparation and printing of the
document.
Councilman Badgett made a motion, seconded by Councilman Fitch,
that the City employ a licensed surveyor to make, and record, a
survey of the present City's meets and bounds; the work to be
done under the direction of Councilman Orr.
The Council vote was unanimous in favor of the motion.
The Council decided to meet in a called session at the
City Hall at 7:00 p.m. October 16, 1951, to act upon a traffic
ordinance for the North Gate area and any other business that
may come before this called session.
