June 12, 1952
The City Council met in a called session at 3:00 p.m., June 12,
1952, in the College Station State Bank building with the following
present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Boyer, Boyett, Fitch, Pugh,
and Sorrels; Acting City Manager Boswell, and City Secretary McGinnis.
A lengthy discussion on the proposed budget for 1952-53 was
held and one addition was made adding $2,000. for parks and playgrounds,
with the idea of buying property for a negro park near Lincoln
School. No official action was taken on the budget.
After a discussion of electric utility rates Councilman Fitch
made a motion, seconded by Councilman Boyer, that an ordinance
(1) establishing uniform electric rates for domestic and commercial
consumers; (2) removing the 10 per cent (10%) discount for payment
of bills by the fifteenth of the month; (3) fixing a penalty for
non-payment of bills by the fifteenth of the month; (4) and con-
taining essentially all other rates as presently established in
Ordinances No. 86 and No. 1503, be prepared for council consideration
at the next regular meeting.
