October 13, 1952
The City Council met in regular session at 7:00 P. M.
October 13, 1952, with the following present: Mayor Langford;
Councilmen Badgett, Boyer, Boyett, Fitch and Pugh; City.
Manager Boswell and City Secretary McGinnis.
Harri Baker., City Editor of the Battalion, was present at
this meeting.
Mayor Langford read a letter from Attorney John M. Barron
representing Sgt. Ernest Seeger in which he requested a re-
zoning of a certain tract of land fronting 112 feet on Highway
No. 6 and extending southwest for 620 feet. This tract adjoins
the Charles Gorzycki property on the south.
The Council referred the letter to the City Zoning Commission
for action.
Mayor Langford read a letter from our State Highway Engineer,,
D. C. Greer, pertaining to the Council's Resolution of July
requesting the Highway No. 6 through the City be made a four -
lane Highway. Mr. Greer had presented the resolution to the
Highway Commission and they reported that finances were not
available for doing the work but would keep the request under
consideration.
Councilman Badgett made a motion, seconded by Councilman
Boyer,, that the Cityfs note for $274.89, plus interest, held
by the College Station State Bank be paid and that Mayor
Langford be authorized to sign renewals, in the name of the City.,
for notes for 01,500.00 and $3,000.00 when due.
`The vote of the Council was unanimous in favor of the motion.
The Mayor acknowledged the receipt of a letter from the
Southwestern States Telephone Company in which the Compe.ny
asked for a higher rate for their services within the City.
Mayor Langford announced that -the State Railroad Commission
had reset the date for the hearing pertaining to the dis-
continuing the two Southern Pacific trains for 10:,00 A. M.
January 5. 1952, at the City Hall, Hearne., Texas.

Mayor Langford was authorized to write the State Highway
Department concerning a "STOP" light at Highway No. 6 and
Jersey Street,
