March 10, 1955
The City Council met in called session at 5:00 p -m- March 10, 1955,
with the follmrin present: Mayor Langford; Councilman Black, . Boyett,
Orry Seeger and Sorols; City Manager Boswell and City Secretary McGinnis.
The following vlsitors were present: M®ssrs. B. E. Patton and Bili.
McKinney of the Dickey Clay Manufacturing Company; Yx. Warren Gelusshia of
the Texas Vitrified Pipe Company; Moore. Homer Hunter, George H. Feagan
tL and W. J. Wischmeyer of Homer Hunter and Associates.
This meeting was called for the purpose of opening bids on certain
quantities and sizes of vitrified clay sewer pipe as advertised. Bids
CX were read aloud as to prices and conditions. After tabulation it was
found to be advantageous for the city to buy the fifteen -inch pipe from
the Dickey Clay Manufacturing Company and the six-, eight-, ten-, and
twelve -inch pipe from the Texas Vitrified Pipe Company.
Councilman Orr made a motion, seconded by Councilman Black, that the
city award to W. S. Dickey Clay Manufacturing Company a contract for the
purchase of 25,000 linear feet of fifteen -inch No. 1 vitrified clay sewer
pipe at their quotation of $1.55 per linear foot delivered on the job for
a total sum of 038,750.00 subject to a 2% discount for payment within tea
days, or thirty days net; and a contract to Texas Vitrified Pipe Company
for the purchase of 23,000 linear feet of six-inch No. 1 vitrified clay
sewer pipe at $0.30 per linear foot; 11,000 linear feet of eight -inch No.
1 vitrified clay sewer pipe at $00495; 6,000 linear feet of ten -inch No.
1 vitrified clay sewer pipe at $0.71 and 12,000 linear feet of twelve -
inch No. 1 vitrified clay sewer pipe at $0.913 delivered on the job for
a total sum of $29,046.00 subject to a 2% discount for payment within ten
days, or thirty days net; in both cases the bidder guaranteeing delivery
to keep ahead of a pipe -laying crew working five and one-half days per
week.
The vote of the Council was unanimous in favor of the motion.
