Visitors present: Messrs. H. W. Magruder and R. 0. Hardy representing General Electric Company, Houston. On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Boyett, the low bid of the Cade Motor Company, Bryan, Texas, in the amount of $1,378.50, with trade-in allowance, for a new 1957 Ford passenger car was accepted. Forms for building permits and inspection reports were discussed at length and approved subject to addition of certain minor changes. City Manager Boswell reported some progress had been made towards the possible opening of a new road between the College Hills area and the Renghofer Addition. On motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman McCall, the City Manager was authorized to purchase from Mrs. J. W. Barger a cemetery lot which she had previously bought. Purchase price to be $95, the amount originally paid for the lot. On motion by Councilman McCall, seconded by Councilman Pugh, the new street bordering the Redmond Addition generally along the West was named Anderson Drive. On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Boyett, an additional $1,000 was authorized for extension of electrical services in the College Park - West Park areas. A public hearing on the budget for the fiscal year July 1, 1957 - June 30, 1958 having been properly advertised and no one appearing, on motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman Pugh, Ordinance No. 253, an ordinance approving the budget for the fiscal year noted and authorizing expenditures therefrom was passed and approved. On motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman Anderson, Ordinance No. 254, an ordinance levying a tax of $1 on each $100 property valuation for the fiscal year noted and distributing the monies collected to the several accounts was passed and approved. Minutes of City Council Continued: 2 June 24, 1957 Messrs. Magruder and Hardy discussed at some length the general question of street lighting and showed various fixtures which might be used for that purpose. On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman McCall, the council adopted a general type of fixture suitable for installation in areas presently being developed or to be developed.
