MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING
April 5, 1957
CRDER DECLARING RESULT OF CITY ELECTION
The city council met in special session at 5:00 p.m. with the fol-
lowing present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Boyett, Orr, Sorrels; City
Attorney Dillon; City Manager Boswell and City Secretary McGinnis. Those
present constituting a quorum, among other proceedings transacted was the
following:
Councilman Sorrels introduced a resolution and order and moved its
adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Boyett, and the motion
carrying with it the adoption of the resolution and order prevailed by the
following vote: Ayes: all present; Noes, none.
The resolution is as follows:
There came on to be considered the returns of an election held
on the 2nd day of April, 1957, for the purpose of electing the
hereinafter named officials, and it appearing from said returns,
duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election
516 valid and legal votes; that each of the candidates in said
election received the following votes: For Councilmen: Ward 1,
J. A. Orr 169, Don R. Dale 101; Ward 2, D. A. Anderson 115,
K. S. Manning 94; Ward 3, Ernest Seeger 6, Nat Woman 9,
Frank H. Matthews 10, Wm. J. Magee 2, R. L. Brown 2, Robert
.,Andrews 5.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS:
That said election was duly called; that notice of said election
was given in accordance with laws, and that said election was
held in accordance with laws, and that Messrs. J. A. Orr and
D. A. Anderson were duly elected Councilmen at said election,
and said above named parties are hereby declared duly elected
to said respective offices, subject to the taking of their
oaths of office as provided by the laws of the State of Texas.
Passed and approved this 5th day of April, 1957.
Messrs. Anderson and Orr having been duly elected their.oaths of
office were subscribed to and filed with the City Secretary.
