AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS ORDERING
A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION IN THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION
ON SATURDAY, APRIL 7, 1984, FOR THE ELECTION OF A MAYOR, AND
COUNCILMEN FOR PLACES 2, 4, AND 6; FIXING THE TIME, PLACE
AND MANNER OF HOLDING THE ELECTION AND APPOINTING JUDGES AND
CLERKS THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE
STATION, TEXAS:
A general election shall be and the same is hereby ordered
to be held on the first Saturday in April, 1984, the same
being April 7, 1984 for the purpose of electing a mayor, and
councilmen for place 2, place 4, and place 6.
The election will be held under the provisions of the laws
of the State of Texas governing the general elections, and
only duly qualified voters who are residents of the City of
College Staion shall be allowed to vote.
Said election shall be held in conjunction with the College
Station Independent School District Board of Trustees
Election, whereby an election precinct is to be served by a
common polling place and election judge. A single ballot
form at each polling place, to contain all the offices to be
voted on at that polling place, shall be used, provided,
however, that no voter shall be given a ballot containing
any office on which the voter is ineligible to vote.
The polls shall be opened promptly at 7:00 A.M. and shall be
closed promptly at 7:00 P.M.
The Office of the City Secretary shall perform all duties
normally performed by the County Clerk in general elections
with respect to absentee voting, giving notice of the
election, and preparing the official ballots.
The election will be held at the following places and the
election officials shall be, for the purpose of this
election, as follows:
Polling Place No. 8, at South Knoll Elementary School in
said City and said District, with Beverly Pedulla as
Presiding Judge and Sue Melton as Alternate Judge; and said
Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 4 clerks to
assist her.

Polling Place No. 9, at College Station Community Center on
Jersey Street in said City and said District, with Peggy C.
Owens as Presiding Judge and Norman K. Waggoner as Alternate
Judge; and said Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 4
clerks to assist her.
Polling Place No. 10, at College Station Police Station in
said City and said District, with Audrey Bunting as
Presiding Judge, and Ruby Freeman as Alternate Judge; and
said Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 4 clerks to
assist her.
Polling Place No. 24, at College Hills Elementary School in
said City and said district, with Cecil A. Parker as
Presiding Judge, and Julia Burns, Alternate Judge; and said
Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 4 clerks to
assist him.
Polling Place No. 31, at A&M Consolidated High School in
said City and said District, with Vi Cook as Presiding
Judge, and Jean McDermott as Alternate Judge, and said
Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 4 clerks to
assist her.
Polling Place No. 32, at College Station Fire Station No. 2
on Rio Grande Drive in said City and said District, with
Maryanne McNamara as Presiding Judge, and Kay Parker,
Alternate Judge; and said Presiding Judge shall appoint no
more than 4 clerks to assist her.
Polling Place No. 33, at Lincoln Center in said City and
said District, with Harrison Hierth as Presiding Judge, and
Dan Davis, Alternate Judge; and said Presiding Judge shall
appoint no more than 4 clerks to assist him.
Polling Place No. 34, at College Station Central Fire
Station in said City and said District, with Mary Lou
Johnson as Presiding Judge, and Dorothy Holland, Alternate
Judge; and said Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than
4 clerks to assist her.
Polling Place No. 35,, consisting of county voting precincts
No. 20, No. 21, and No. 35, at —College Station Municipal
Building at 101 Church Avenue., in said City and said
District, with Pamela Stovall as Presiding Judge, and Gail
Tucker as Alternate Judge;'and said Presiding Judge shall
appoint no more than 4 clerks'to assist her.

Absentee voting in said election shall be conducted by the
City Secretary, Dian Jones, in Conference Room A in the City
Hall of the City of College Station, College Station, Texas
77840. Said City Secretary shall keep office open for at
least eight (8) hours on each day for absentee voting which
is not a Saturday, Sunday or an official State holiday.

Punch card voting machines shall be used for voting at the
foregoing election precincts and electronic counting devices
and equipment shall be used for counting the ballots at said
election.
The Council Room of the College Station City Hall, 1101
South Texas Avenue, in said district and said city, is
hereby established as the Central Counting Station to
receive ballots for said election, the ballots to be
tabulated and returned to the Office of the City Secretary
of the City of College Station.

A committee is hereby established of the following persons
to hold a Computer Accuracy Test prior to the start and
subsequent to the count of the voted ballots to ascertain
that the computer will accurately count the votes cast for
the offices to be voted upon in said election:

PIDIENDO UNA ELECCION GENERAL MUNICIPAL EN LA CIUDAD DE
COLLEGE STATION EL SABADO, 7 DE ABRIL DE 1984, PARA LA
ELECCION DE UN ALCALDE, Y CONCEJALES PARA LOS LUGARES
2, 4, Y 6: ESTABLECIENDO LA HORA, SITIO Y MANERA DE
LLEVARSE A CABO LA ELECCION Y DE NOMBRAR JUECES Y
SECRETARIOS DE ESTO.
SEA ORDENADA POR EL CONSEJO MUNICIPAL DE LA CIUDAD DE
COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS:
Una elecc~on general se estara y lo mismo esta por la
presente ordenada a llevarse a cabo el primer sabado en
abril 1984, lo mismo siendo 7 de abril, con el propos~to
de elig~r a un Alcalde, y Concejales para Lugar 2, Lugar
4 y Lugar 6.
La eleccion se llevara a cabo bajo las provisiones de las
leyes del Estado de Texas governado las elecciones generales,
y solamente los votantes debidamentes calificados quienes
son res~dentes de la Ciudad de College Station se les
estara permitido votar.
Dicha eleccion se llevara a cabo en conjuncion con el
D~str~to Escolar Independiente de College Station en donde
un precinto de eleccion esta servido por un sitio comun de
votac~on y juez de eleccion. Una sola forma de balota en
cada sitio de votacion, a contener todos los oficios a
estarse votados en ese sitio de votacion, se a cond~cion que,
de cualquier modo, votante se usaran ningun votante le dara
una balota conteniendo cualquier oficio en la cual el
votante esta inelegible a votar.
Los sitios de votacion abr~ran puntualmente a las 7:00
a.m. y se estaran cerrados puntualmente a las 7:00 p.m.
La Oficina de la Secretaria de la Ciudad ejecutara todos
los deberes normalmente e3ecutados por el Secretario del
Condado en elecc~ones generales que se ref~eren a votacion
en ausencia, dando aviso de la eleccion, y preparando las
balotas oficiales.
La elecc~on se llevara a cabo en los s~tios siguientes y
los oficiales de eleccion seran, con el proposito de
esta elecclon, como sigue:

Bomberos, en dicha Ciudad yen dicho Distrito con Maryanne

Alterno; y dicho Juez Presidente nombrara no mas de 4
secretarios a asistirle.

slgue, numero 20, numero 21, y numero 35, en el Edificio
Municipal de College Station, 101 Church Avenue, en dicha

Presidente, y Gail Tucker como Juez Alterno; y dicho Juez
Pres~dente nombrara no mas de 4 secretarios a asistirle.
La votacion en ausencia sera dlrlglda por la Secretar~a
Municipal, Dian Jones, en la Sala de Conferencia A en el
Palacio Municipal de la Ciudad de College Station, Texas.
Dicha Secretaria Municipal mantendra dlcha ofic~na ab~erta
para la votacion en ausencia durante por lo menos ocho (8)
horas cada dla que no sea un sabado, dom~ngo o dia
festivo Estatal.

Maquinas electrinocas de votacion se usaran para votar en

La Sala del Consejo en el Palacio Municipal de College Station,
1101 South Texas Avenue, en dicha Ciudad esta por la presente
designada como la Estacion Central Contadora para recibir balotas
para dicha eleccion, y las papeletas seran enroladas y devueltas
a la Off~cina de la Secretaria de la C~udad de College Station.

presente como personas empleadas y designadas a manejar las
balotas, a operar el equipo de tabular, y a contar las
