OCTOBER 15, 1959
Members Present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Landiss, Anderson, Orr, and Smith;
City Secretary McGinnis; and City Attorney Dillon; City Manager Boswell.
Visitors Present: Mr. Tom Prater
On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Landiss,, the city agreed
to do certain engineering, dirt removal, and grading in the portion of the South Knoll
Addition now plotted but not now in the city of College Station, Texas; provided said
work to be done shall not exceed $1,000.00 and that the city can do the work at its
convenience and only when the area to be developed is annexed to the city of College
Station, Texas; and upon completion of this work, it is understood and agreed by and
between the city of College Station and the developer that this complets the city's
obligation.
On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Smith, Ordinance No. 287.
an ordinance prohibiting the writing, composing, selling, etc., of obscene literature
etc,, was passed, approved, and ordered published. The motion passed with an unanimous
vote including the vote of the mayor.
On motion by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Landiss, the city attorney
was directed to prepare an ordinance concerning the committee to screen literature
covered in Ordinance No. 287 and to check with other communities which have similar
committies to see how they operate.
The mayor presented the following resolution: That in order to straighten out
the property line of J. W. Sorenson, Jr., in the City of College Station, Texas, the
city conveys unto the said J. W. Sorenson, Jr., and wife Mary P. Sorenson, the following
described property, to -wit:
Being parts of Lots Nos. Two (2) and Three (3), Block No. Two (2), and an adjoining
unsubdivided portion of College Park Addition to the City of College Station, Brazos
County, Texas; the said tract of land being more particularly described by metes and
bounds as follows:
BEGINNING at an iron bar for the common front corner of Lots 3 and 4, Block 2 of the
College Park Addition;
THENCE in a southwesterly direction along the line between Lot 3 and 4, a distance of
45 feet to an iron bar for corner;
THENCE in a northwesterly direction and parallel with the front line of Lots 2 and 3,
a distance of 135 feet to an iron bar in the northwest line of Lot 2 for corner;
THENCE in a northeasterly direction along the southeast line of Jersey Street, at
45 feet pass the most northerly corner of Lot 2 and at a total distance of 1.11.6
feet to an iron bar for corner;
THENCE in an easterly direction along an arc of a circle having a radius of 32.3 feet
a distance of 59 feet to an iron bar for corner in the west line of Ayrshire Street
(formerly Galloway Street)
THENCE in a southerly direction along the west line of Ayrshire Street a. distance of
114.5 feet to an iron bar for corner;
THENCE in a southwesterly direction along an extension of the line between lots 3 and
4 a distance of 57.7 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING. (According to a survey made on

the ground in October, 1959, by J. A. Orr, Registered Professional Engineer.)
The following resolution was thereupon made by Councilman Landiss, and seconded
by Councilman Anderson, and unanimously passed, all present voting "aye".
The mayor is authorized to execute the deed for the city of College Station,
Texas, as the act and deed of said city and his acts are herein in all things
ratified.
The council adjourned subject to call.
