Mayor Pro-tern Brown opened the meeting with Mayor Ringer absent. Executive Director Fiscal/Human Resources Harrison presented this item. He po~ted out the. accomplishm_e_nts his group has. made as a result of the customer serwce program. He presented a brief slide presentation. He suggested the city look into a similar procedure for its employees. 007949 City Council Workshop Meeting Page 2 Thursday, August 23, 1990 Mrs. Pavlinski pointed out that feedback received from employees regarding the cost of dependent coverage is good. City Manager Ragland mentioned that the staff educated the employees about the insurance plan and progress has been made. Mr. Herder explained the Managed Care Network program. Discussion was held on the premium paid by employees for dependent coverage. Councilman Birdwell suggested that the city explore the possibility of contracting services with one hospital as a financial incentive for families. He noted tha..t the Street Department has been reorganized as a result of the preventative maintenance progr...arm. For instance, maintenance teams have been established. As a result, t...ne ~ommu~ty ~enter Adviso_ry Comrruttee recommende.d that the ~ommunity ~;enter name be changed to the College Station Conference ~enter. Comments were made by the Council. Councilman Birdwell moved approve., of the name change to Coll.e. ge Station Conference Center. The motion was seconded by Councilman Crouch which carried unanimously, 5-0.
