HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-25-95-C-2 - Resolution - 05/25/1995q so[ution N0.5-25-95-c-2 A RESOLUTION PRESCRIBING AN ASSESSMENT FOR GARBAGE DISPOSAL IN THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of College Station that: Pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 11, Section 5, of the City of College Station Code of Ordinances, there shall be a monthly charge assessed and collected from each person, firm or corporation within the city limits of the City of College Station for garbage collection and disposal. GENERAL RATE PROVISION Except as otherwise provided in this resolution, the charges for garbage collection and disposal shall be assessed according to the following schedule: User Applicable Charge Each single-family residential dwelling unit utilizing a small automated refuse container and provided with garbage, rubbish, brush and recycling collection one weekly. $11.20 Each single or multi-family residential dwelling unit utilizing a commercial-type automated refuse container and provided with twice per week garbage collection and once per week rubbish/brush collection. $11.20 Additional monthly fee for residential dwelling units having more than one automated refuse container. This rate shall be assessed for each additional container utilized. $ 8.00 Each multi-family residential dwelling unit utilizing commercial-type refuse containers for garbage collection only. Service will be provided twice weekly. $ 6.00 Resolution No. 5-25-9 5-c-2 Page 2 Places of business that can best be serviced with a residential-type automated container with twice per week collection, without causing a health, sanitation or litter problem. $48.40 Places of business that can best be serviced by a large, commercial-type automated container with twice per week collection, without causing a health, sanitation or litter problem. $130.00 II. RATES FOR USERS OF FRONT-END LOADING CONTAINERS The charges for garbage collection and disposal for places of business that can best be served by front-end loading containers shall be assessed based on container size, number of containers utilized and frequency of collection per week, according to the following schedule: Container Size 4 cubic yards 8 cubic yards Frequency of Collection Monthly Charge 2 $140.00 3 $195.00 4 $210.00 5 $245.00 6 $280.00 2 $180.00 3 $23O.OO 4 $28O.OO 5 $33O.OO 6 $380.00 III. ADDITIONAL CHARGES The following additional charges will be assessed and collected upon the performance of the described service or the occurrence of the described use or condition: Resolution No. 5-25-9 5-c-2 Page 3 Description Additional fee for any location (other than residential) where the container was blocked and the collection vehicle must return to provide service. All roll-off container service per load plus current per ton landfill charge. Unprepared solid waste minimum charge. Actual cost of clean up can be charged pursuant to City of College Station Ordinance No. 1845, approved March 22, 1990° One to ten bags/per collection for places of business requiring treated medical waste collection Charge $15.00 $75.00 $50.00 $17.53 IV. GENERAL PROVISIONS The solid waste superintendent, or his representatives, shall be notified of any new service locations or changes in service levels and will designate the container(s) to be utilized. The superintendent can require changes in service levels at any location when the current service is inadequate and is causing a health, sanitation, or litter problem. Payments must be received at the City utility office on or before the due date to avoid late charges. Payment received after the due date will be assessed a penalty equaling ten percent (10%) of the current month's charges with a minimum charge of Three Dollars ($3.00). The charges provided for in this resolution shall supersede all charges for garbage collection and disposal set in any previous resolutions passed by the City of College Station. The charges set by this resolution that are applicable to each commercial user shall be effective on the date that the commercial user converts to front-end loading containers, which shall be either June 12, 1995, or June 26, 1995.
