HomeMy WebLinkAbout7-22-2002-11.09 - Resolution - 07/22/2002 RESOLUTION NO. 7 -22- 2002 -11.09 CIO A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE BRAZOS VALLEY COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE RELATIVE TO THE AGENCY'S HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the City of College Station recognizes the responsibility shared with the City of Bryan to provide environmentally sound solid waste disposal services to the Brazos Valley Region; and WHEREAS, the City of College Station and operates the Rock Prairie Road Landfill on behalf of the Cities of Bryan and College Station, Texas; and WHEREAS, the City of College Station operates an area -wide household hazardous waste collection and public education program, a backyard composting public education program and a white goods and metals recycling program; and WHEREAS, the diversion of household hazardous waste, yard waste and white goods from the waste stream of the Rock Prairie Road Landfill represents prudent and environmentally sound stewardship by reducing the toxicity and quantities of materials disposed in the landfill; and WHEREAS, the City of College Station intends to conduct additional programs in the areas of household hazardous waste, backyard composting and white goods recycling during the next fiscal year; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION: 1. That the City of College Station is hereby authorized to submit an application for $30,000.00 under the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission's Pass Through Grant Program as disbursed by the Brazos Valley Council of Governments. 2. That the City of College Station will comply with the provisions of the fiscal reimbursement and reporting requirements of the Brazos Valley Council of Governments, the TNRCC, and the State of Texas. 3. That the grant funds will be used only for the purposes for which they are intended for under the grant. 4. That the proposed project is in compliance with and supports the Regional Solid Waste Management Plan as adopted by the Brazos Valley Council of Governments. 5. That the Brazos Valley Solid Waste Management Agency Executive Director is hereby authorized to act in all matters in connection with this application. Saw ADOPTED this 22 day of July, A.D. 2002.
