HomeMy WebLinkAbout9-26-2002-11.08 - Resolution - 09/26/2002 RESOLUTION NO. 9 -26- 2002 -11.08 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN A TEXAS HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY PROGRAM GRANT AGREEMENT FOR THE COMPREHENSIVE SELECTIVE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM WITH THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION. WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation has proposed that the City of College Station participate in its Comprehensive Selective Traffic Enforcement Program to reduce driver risk - taking behavior by combining alcohol, occupant protection, speed and moving violations to reduce injuries and fatalities on the roadways and intersections; and WHEREAS, The Comprehensive Selective Traffic Enforcement Program is effective from October 1, 2002 to September 30, 2003, during which time the City of College Station shall be reimbursed for 100% of the expenses incurred to operate the program; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of College Station believes that the citizens will benefit from the City participating in this Comprehensive Selective Traffic Enforcement Program; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: Part 1: That the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas, hereby approves the grant contract for $63,030 for the Police Department. Part 2: That the City Council of the City of College Station hereby authorizes the Mayor to sign the Comprehensive Selective Traffic Enforcement Program grant agreement referred to above: Part 3: That this resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage.
