HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-21-2002-12.04 - Resolution - 11/21/2002 RESOLUTION NO. 11 -21- 2002 -12.04 Stir A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, APPROVING A GRANT APPLICATION WITH THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL FUNDING. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of College Station desires to submit an application for funding for the development of a Safe Routes to School project; and WHEREAS, this project is in keeping with the development plans of the City, including the Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan; Recreation, Park and Open Space Plan; Greenways Master Plan; Comprehensive Plan; and Comprehensive Traffic Safety Plan; and WHEREAS, the project will encourage and promote the use of alternative transportation within the City, particularly in the vicinity of A &M Consolidated High School, and provide benefits to improved health and fitness, a reduction in motor vehicle traffic, a reduction in air and noise pollution, increased transportation opportunities, and an enhanced sense of neighborhood and community; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: Part 1: That the City Council of the City of College Station hereby approve the grant application 4111r for $168,700 for the purposes of traffic calming, transportation improvements, and the installation of bicycle and pedestrian friendly infrastructure at the intersection of FM 2818 and Welsh within the College Station city limits. Part 2: That the Mayor is hereby authorized to sign the project nomination form of the Texas Department of Transportation Safe Routes to School Program. Part 3: That the City Council of the City of College Station hereby agrees to provide the local match contribution for $64,000 as listed on the application. Part 4: That this resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage.
