RESOLUTION NO ] 1-9-2004- 13.08
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COllNCIL OF THE CIIT OF COLLEGE STATION,
TEXAS, APPROVING THE CENTRAL TEXAS LIBRARY SYSTEM ADVISORY
COUNCIL TO FORM A REGIONAL LIBRARY SYTEM AND TO APPLY TO THE
TEXAS STATE LIBRARY AND ARCHIVES COMMISSION FOR A SYSTEM
OPERATION GRANT.
WHEREAS. Section 441 131 of the Library Systems Act. as amended. (the "Act"). states as
lallows "The governmg bodies of two-thirds of the member hbrarles of a major resource system
may elect. for the purpose of administering the receipt and dispersal of services under this
subchapter within their area, to form a regional hbrary system that includes all libraries that are
members of the major resource system;" and
WHEREAS, the Central Texas LIbrary Advisory Council, consisting of the duly elected
representatives of the member libraries of the Central Texas Library System. a major resource
system as defined by the Act, has voted unanimously to request its member libraries to petition
their respective governing bodies to form a regional library system organized as a nonprofit
corporation under the Texas Non-Profit Corporation Act tArticle 1396-1 et seq., Vernon's Texas
Civil Statues): now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas:
PART 1. That the City Council authorizes the members of the Central Texas
Library system Advisory counCIl to form a regional library system that
includes the Bryan+ColIege Station Public Library system and to apply to
the Texas State Library and Archives Commission for a system operation
grant
PART 2: That this resolution shall take effect Immediately from and after its passage.
ADOPTED this 9th day of November. A.D. 2004.
