Special Meeting Agenda Item 1 - Executive Session At 5'36 p.m., Mayor Sflvia announces m open session that thc Ctty Counctl would convene into execuuve session pursuant to Sectton 551.074 of the Open Meeting Act, to consider the appointment and evaluauon ofpubhc officer{s). Special Meeting Agenda Item 2 - Final Action on Executive Session~ if necessary. Council recessed from executive session at 7 25 p.m. No action was taken at this t~me. Special Meeting Agenda Item 3 -Presentation~ discussion and possible action on appointments to various Citizens Committees and appointment of Council members to various committee groups. Council member Waremg made a morion to reappoint Scott Sharer, Ben White and appoint John Nichols, Manlyn Hooton, and John Fedora to the Plannmg and Zomng Comm]sston Counctl member Lancaster seconded the motion, whmh carried by a vote of, 4-3. FOR: Sflvta, Maloney, Wareing, Lancaster AGAINST. Massey, Happ, Berry Providing Customer Service Evcellence Ofllce of the Cto, Secretary College Stattott. Tetas Council Meeting 6/29/04 Page 2 Councd member Lancaster made a motion to appmnt Jay Goss, John Richards and Graham Sheffy, also the motion included Joshua Benn. Donald Braune and Jason Schneider as alternates to the Zoning Board of Adjustments. Council member Maloney seconded the motion, which earned by a vote of 5-2. FOR- Salvia, Maloney, Massey, Waremg, Lancaster AGAINST: Happ and Berry Council member Berry made a motion to appoint Jo& Warner, Chmrman, Glenn Schroeder, Gary Erwm, Larry Famswoth, Jeannie MeCandless, Carol Blaschke, Gary Thomas, Don Elhson and Kathlecn Ireland to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. Also named were current members of the committee Gary Erwm, Larry Famsworth and Don Allison Council member Massey seconded the morton, which camed unammously 7-0 FOR' Sflwa, Maloney, Massey, Happ, Waremg, Lancaster, Berry AGAINST' None Council member Ware~ng made a motion to appoint George McLean, Dan Sears, Chairman, and Larry Patton as the alternate to the Construction Board of Appeals Also named were current members of the committee: Mike Lane, Frank Cox and Glenn Thomas. Council member Happ seconded the morton, which carried unammously, 7-0. FOR: Sdwa, Maloney, Massey, Happ, Waremg, Lancaster, Berry AGAINST None Council member Maloney made a motion to delay any appointments to the Remvestment Zone 15 Council member Ware,ng seconded the motion, which carried unammously. 7-0 FOR. Sflv~a, Maloney, Massey, Happ, Wareing, Lancaster, Berry AGAINST' None Mayor Pre Tem Maloney made a motion appoint Mary L~nd Bryan, David Chester, Joe C Wallace, and Greg S~lber as an alternate, and moved Vlrgnna Rmz from Alternate to fill a vacant pos~t~on to the Cemetery Committee. Council member Berry seconded the motion. Mayor Pro Tem Maloney amended h~s motion to include James Batenhorst as an alternate to the Cemetery Commmee Counc,I member Berry seconded the amended morton, which earned unammously, '/-0. None Council d~rected staffto advertise for comm~ttec members to the Faqade Improvement Committee Councd member Lancaster made a motion to appoint Dawd Chester, Hfllary Jessup, Matthew Lee. Neal Nutall and Colleen Rts~nger to the H~ston¢ Preservation Committee Council member Happ seconded the motion, which camed unammously, 7-0. Teras Council Meeting 6/29/04 Page 3 FOR: SiIvla, Maloney, Massey, Happ, Wareing, Lancaster, Berry AGAINST: None Council member Happ made a motion to accept the Senior Advisory Committee as a standing committee reporting to the City Council. Council member Waremg seconded the motion, which carned unanimously, 7-0 FOR SiIvla, Maloney, Massey, Happ, Waremg, Lancaster, Berry AGAINST: None Council member Massey suggested having a joint workshop meeting with the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board to discuss the Senior Advisory Committee membership and express gratitude and appreciation to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board for their leadership to the Senior Advisory Committee. The following individuals were appointed by the City Council to represent the City of College Station on joint committees with other governmental agencies and community groups Brazos Animal Shelter Board of Directors Mayor Silvla Brazos County Health Department Council members Lancaster and Berry Brazos Valley Council of Governments Board of Director~ Mayor SiIvla Brazos Valley Council of Governments-TMPA Regional Parr Proiect Advisory Board Council member Waremg BVSWMA Policy Advisory Board Mayor Silvla and Mayor Pro Tem Maloney City Center Committee Mayor Silvla, Mayor Pro Tem Maloney and City Manager Bryraer Interl~overnmental Committee Mayor Pro Tern Maloney made a motion to appoint Council member Warelng to the Intergovernmental Committee Council member Lancaster seconded the motion, motion failed by a vote of 3-4.
