February 20, 1947
Members present: Mayor Langford; Cou#cilmen Ames, Brown, Crawford,
Harrington, Orr; and City Manager Vaughn.
Visitors present: C. A. Bonnen, E. E. Brown, Ray Hiekman, A. T.J. Whitis,
and C. R. Allen.
Ordinance No. 100 ordering a general city election for April 1, 1947 was
approved.
Ordinance No. 101 creating a Board of Equalization for the year 1947 was
approved.
The Council postponed to its Larch meeting the question of a peddlers
ordinance.
The Council discussed the desirability and need of an Advisory Committee
in the matter of contemplated improvements and extensions in the City
and appointed the following men to constitute such a committee:
S. R. Tright
S. A. Lipscomb
E. E. Brown
C. IT. Crawford
T. W. Leland
1,Jr, E. L. Brown, speaking for the School Board, raised certain questions
relative to the collection by the city of school taxes, assessing the
property for taxes, etc. 'It was agreed that if conditions at the end of
the year warrant it, the Council will not hold the School, Board to its
committment of $780.00 per year for the collection of school taxes.
