June 12, 1947
Members present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Ames, Badgett, Black,
Harrington, Orr; City :Attorney Barger; City Secretary McGinnis and
City Manager Vaughn.
Visitors present: Joe Motheral, Paul Ballance, Reed Wipprechtp
two students by the name of Williams.
The Council changed its regular meeting date to the first Wednesday
following the tenth of each month.
The Williams brothers presented a verbal request to locate a trailor
for dispensing frozen foods and drinks within the fire zone at the
North Gate ,Area. The request was denied as the trailor did not comply
with the fire regulations.
The Council denied the application of the Church of Christ to erect an
addition to its building as such an addition would require that wall
lines be within three feet of property lines.
Messrs. Ballance and 11otheral discussed with the Council the improvit.g,.
of certain streets within the College Hills Area. The Council
assured them that the City would bear its part of the cost and that
the work could be done during the summer months, provided property
owners would either pay immediate cash for their assessments or give
to the City notes for deferred payments.
The Council adopted Ordinance No. 103 regulating the storage and
handling of gasoline and ordered that it be published as required by
law.
The Council set the evening of June 23, 1947 for a general meeting
of towns people for a discussion of the proposed budget and other
matters of community interest.
The Council approved an appropriation of 41,000.00 for the next fiscal
year for the Brazos County Health Unit.
Dr. Alvin L. Waller was appointed City Health Officer to serve without
remuneration and of indefinite tenure.
The Council expressed its appreciation to Mr. Leon Tauber for his
contribution of $25.00 to the Cemetery Fun
