March 1, 1946
Members present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Wilcox, Harrington, Crawford,
R. L. Brown, E. E. Brawn; and City Manager Smith.
Purpose of the meeting was to consider an amended request of J. C.
Culpepper that certain areas within College Hills Estates be rezoned to
District No. 4, First Business District. The Council also considered a
letter signed by S. 0. Brown, Gene Brock, E. M. White, R. B. McAshan, Jr.,
D. A. Anderson, and Wm. C. Hall.
On motion by Councilman R. L. Brown, seconded by Councilman Crawford the
following resolution was approved:
RESOLUTION
The Council having by Ordinance No. 85 proposed the rezoning
of Block 3, Lots 11-14, inclusive, Block 9, Lots 13-20,
inclusive, Block 22, Lots 1, 2, & 3, and 10, 11, & 12,
Block 211, Lots 1, 2, & 3, and 19, 20, & 21, Block 18, Lots 1,
2, & 3, College Hills Addition, to District No. 4, First
Business District, which proposal was subsequently amended
to read as follows:
Lot 14 in Block 3, Lots 1, 2, & 3 in Block 18,
and Lots 1, 2, 3, 19, 20, 21 in Block 21,

College Hills Addition, be zoned to District
No. 4, First Business District;
and having by the same ordinance caused to be published and
posted due notice of such proposal, as well as having referred
the question to the Zoning Commission for recommendation;
having set a date for a public hearing on the proposal, and
the public hearing having been had accordingly, where pro-
ponents and opponents alike were given an opportunity to be
heard; and having before it a letter signed by Sidney 0. Brown,
Gene Brock, E. M. White, R. B. McAshan, Jr., D. A. Anderson,
and Wm. C. Hall in which they as property owners state that
they shall have no objection to the Council' s reconsidering
its action of January 17, 1946 and that they would not oppose
the amended request -- the Council hereby accepts the
recommendation of the Zoning Commission that the amended
proposal be approved, and declares that all of that property
described in the amended proposal is hereby rezoned to District
No. 4, First Business District, same to be effective this date.
