MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
JANUARY 20, 1944
Members present:Mayor Langford, Councilmen Orr, Wilcox,
Crawford and E. E. Brown;, Business Manager Smith, and
Assistant City Secretary Rodgers.
Mr. Rodgers presented financial statements for the past
six months.
The Council authorized the paying off of the Lancaster
note held by F. G. Anderson.
The Council authorized the inclusion of an item of $1100.
for the Police Department to be included in the budget
of the general Fund.
Mr. Smith was authorized to proceed with certain street
improvements adjacent to the Campus Theatre and Dr. T. 0.
Walton' s Clinic. The General Fund budget for capital
outlay was increased $500.
Mr. Smith was authorized to negotiate with Guy F. Boyett
relative to taking a lot in exchange for services.
The question of taking the T. .R. Spence property into the
City limits was tabled for the duration.
The Mayor was instructed to ask City Attorney Barger to
prepare an ordinancesrelative to livestock running at large
in the City, relative to traffic control, and vagrancy.
Mayor Langford and Mr. Smith were authorized to confer with
A. & M. Consolidated Trustees relative to collecting school
taxes.
The Council approved a resolution relative to withdrawing
natural gas from the State of Texas.
The Louncil adopted Ordinance #75 and authorized its
publication.
Ordinance #34 was repealed.
