The Council met in regular meeting at the home of
Councilman Crawford.
Present:Mayor Ernest Langford, Councilmen E. E. Brown, R. L.
Brown, C. W. Crawford, M. T. Harrington, J. A. Orr, G. B.
Wilcox, and Business Manager L. D. Smith..
The Council approved tentatively the Budget as submitted
by the business Manager and ordered that a public hearing
be set for September 23, at 3:00 PM in the City Offices.
The question of straightening out the City limits: in the
area of the Boyett Addition was presented by Mr. Smith.
He stated that Guy and Alton Boyett and W. E.. Higgins
had been contacted, that there was no objection to the
proposal upon their part, and that the only resident of
the particular area described below would present a petition
requesting that the property described below be admitted to
the city limits: "That portion of land lying north of the
present city limits of College Station, south of the city
limits of Bryan, east of old Highway #6, and west of the
Tauber property."
The Council authorized the Mayor and the Business Manager
to take up two notes held by the Southside Development
Company, and to purchase a $1000. bond in the current
War Bond Drive.
The Mayor, the Business Manager, and Councilman Wilcox
were authorized to arrange for publication in the Battalon
of a statement of city affairs add other pertinent facts
which might properly be included.
The Business Manager was instructed to pay an item of
021. for certain work done in bringing the zoning map
uptodate.
The Council voted to pay Mr. W. M. Simpson $250. for his
work in setting up a fiscal system, and instructed the
Business Manager to express to Mr. Simpson its appreco&tion
of his time, patience, and interest.
