Meeting of the City Council, Thursday, October 8, 1942.
Present: Mayor Langford, Councilmen Lloyd, Burns, 'Wilcox; and
Smith.
Mr. Daniel Russell appeared before the Council and explained in
detail his request that the city of College Station assist him in
servicing certain houses in West Park with utilities. The matter
was referred to Mr. Orr and his committee.
Mayor Langford announced the City's priorities rating covering
materials and equipment for connecting up Dr. Andres' X-ray machine
and other equipment at his hospital. Decision was to table this
matter until the Mayor has the opportunity to talk to Manager Scott,
Bryan, to learn what the practices are in Bryan in connection with
similar equipment.
Same disposition made of a letter from Mr. Holmgreen relative to
fire protection by the country for areas outside the City of
Bryan and also the City of College Station.
The Council approved a decision to sell Mr. Richards the garbage
truck and pay him a definite amount and let him pay his help and
expenses. Mr. Smith moved that Mr. Langford make the deal with
Richards, with the full authority of the Council. Mr. Lloyd second-
ed the motion. Vote was unanimous.
Mr. Daniel Russell gave the city a check for $ 250.00 for utility
connections for Dunn, Gunkel, Kellogg, and two Kana houses, with
the underatanding that if connections could not be made to Kana
houses $ 100.00 is to be applied on a bill owing for previous con-
nections in hest Park.
The petition of L. Jones & other r admission into the City Limits
was approved.
