HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/25/1942 - Regular Minutes - City Council Minutes of the Meeting of the City Council, June 25, 1942. Members Present: Mayor Langford, Councilmen Munson, Wilcox, Burns, Lloyd, Smith, and Orr. Mr. Ldge, a representative of the Bryan- College Traction Company, met with the Council, to discuss the possibility of giving bus service in the residential areas of College Station. The Mayor was authorized by the Council to work out w ith Mr. Holmgreen, the matter of garbage disposal. Motion was made by Mr. Munson, seconded by Mr. Orr, to change the Fis- cal Year from August 1-to July 31, to July 1-June3Oth. The Council requested that the petitions, as sent in by Dr. L. G. Jones, be referred to the City Planning Commission. The Council approved the buying of glass for the office windows. Upon the reading of the Ordinances on Grass Fires, a motion was made by Mr. Munson, seconded by Mr. Orr, to adopt " A Resolution Declaring a Nuisance Exists upon the Premises Descirbed in the Following Instrument", the " Ordinance Requiring Weeds and Grass to be cut upon Premises and the Rubbish Removed', etc., and " An Ordinance Levying an Assessment Against Certain Properties aryl Making the same a Lien Aga ins t Said Properties,"etc. iviot ion carried. Motion was made by Mr. Orr, seconded by Mr. Lloyd, that , until the Council can secure a truck, Mr. Richards be paid $ 200 per month, effective as of June 1, 1942.
