Minutes of a Meeting of the City Council February 29, 1940.
( The City Council of the city of College Station met in regular
session in the city office on February 29, &t 7 P/M. with Mayor
Binney presiding, and Aldermen Wilcox, Jones, Orr, Gabbard and
Lipscomb, and City Attorney Barger present.
Dean Bolton met With the Council to give information on utility
rates.
It was moved by Gabbard and seconded by Lipscomb to pass Ordinance
41 Regulating the Collection of Garbage within the city limits.
l Motion carried.
CI Motion was made by Wilcox, and seconded by Jones to pass Ordinance
��' Fixing the Notice of Election. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Orr and seconded by Gabbard to pass Ordinance
Granting Permission of Entrance of the A. & M. Consolidated
Independent School itto the city. Motion carried.
It was agreed that copies of the Ordinance of Election be posted
in Lipscomb's Pharmacy, Luke's and the Academic Building.
Mr. Burchard from the Southside Development Company met with the
Council. A motion was made by Gabbard and seconded by Orr to
1 purchase the utilities of the Southside Development Company, pen.-
ing financial arrangements of the city. Motion carried.
A Committee, composed of Mrs. T. 0. Walton, Ohairman, Mrs. Mogfo d,
Mrs. Rogers, and Bill Murray., was appointed to select a Duchess
to represent College Station at the Bluebonnet Festival in Nav-
asota April 12th.
A motion was made by Orr, and seconded by Lipscomb to elect
Garland Brown as deputy city marshall, at a salary of $ 75.00
per month. Motion carried.
A motion wss made by Wilcox and seconded by 'rr to authorize the
payments of the current bills.
