28 , 1939 .
The regular meeting of the City Council was held at
7: 30 P.M. on Sept. 28 , in the City Office with Sayor
Binney presiding, and Alderman Gabbard , Jones, and Lip-
scomb , and City Engineer MoNew, City Attorney Barger,
and City Sanitary Engineer Steele in attendance.
On motion of Gabbard and seconded by Jones , it was
agreed that i!rof. Steele should represent the Council
. at the meeting of the County Health Board.
City Fire Marshall Frank Brown brought to the attention
of the Council the need for greater caution to be tak-
en in preventing fires in order to keep the present
good fire record.
It W£ s moved by Gabbard and seconded by Jones to pass
the following Ordinance: "''- '

l.That the City Engineer and the College Electric-
ian be instructed to make an esti - ate; of the cost
of bringing up to a good state of repair the elec-
tric utility lines on the north side of the Cam-
pus, and report back to the Council.
2.That the College Electrician be instructed to
provide electric service to the site of the old
Boyett homestead whenever needed.
Mr. Burgess met with the Council and brought up the
matter of the city taking over the utility system in
Oakwood Addition.
Mr. Dyess made application for the use of three taxi
cabs for the Yellow Cab Company.
Deputy City Marshall Lee gave a report on the recent
burglary at the home of Mrs. Shepardson.
A petition Was read by mayor Binney from a number of
citizens of the city, who requested that the parking
limit on Bell Street be extended to two hours.
It was moved by Gabbard and seconded by Jones that the
bill for $ 3.50 for `votary Services be paid to Mr. W.
E. Lewis. Motion carried.
Mr. Steele reported that the Zoning Commission was mak-
ing progress, and that mans were to be nut in various
places throughout the city. He also stated that the
city health unit would be working after Oct. 1st .
It was moved by Gabbard and seconded by Jones that a
committee , consisting of J . B. Bagley, ;_. C. Hughes,
W. Y. Sparks , and A. P. Boyett , with Bagley as chair-
man, be appointed to investigate the 'Tauber claims.

city secretary write a letter to A. & M. College to
advise that the electric utilities have been taken over
by the city.
It was moved by Jones and seconded by Gabbard to nay
a light bill of 1. 63 to A. & M. College. I,Motion
carried .
Mayor Binney gave a report on the meeting which was
held at rirant ' s Yil ling 9tation, Sept. 25th.
