Minutes of the Meeting of the City Council on Deo. 7 ,1°,39.
The regular meeting of the City Council of College
Station was held in the City Office on Thursday, Dec.
7 , at 7 P.M. , with Mayor Binney presiding and Aldermex
Wilcox, Lipscomb , Orr and Jones and city attorney, J.
W. Barger in attendance.
A motion was made by Wilcox and sedonded by Lipscomb
to pay a bill to Mr. D. P. McAlpine for .` 37.26, for
office equipment.
Upon motion by Orr and seconded by Wilcox, it was agreed
to pay a bill of one hundred el00.00 ) dollars to the
Office Equipment Company of Dallas, Texas, for office
furniture.
(—) A motion was made by Wilcox and seconded by Orr to ap-
prove the appointment by the Mayor of the following men
to serve on the City Planning Commission: Dean Gibb
Gilcrist , Chairman, Col. Ike Ashburn, S. R. Wright , Jack
Finney, Ft W. Hensel , and Ex-officio- E. Steel and
J.T.L. Mc ' ew. This Committee was also asked to serve
as the Industrial Development Committee. The appoint-
ment of this Industrial Committee was requested by
Governor O` Daniel.
Mayor Binney read the proposed franchise to the Bryan-
College Traction Company.
A motion was made by Lipscomb and seconded by Wilcox
to adopt revised Ordinance No. 19 . Motion carried.
Motion was made by Lipscomb and seconded by Orr to ad-
opt the ordinance granting a franchise to the Bryan-
College Traction Company. Motion carried.
It was agreed to instruct Deputy 1 .t y Marshall Lee to
enforce the taxi-cab law.
Motion was made by Jones and seconded by Wilcox to
bring suit against Sol Frank for utility bill for Oct-
ober, 1939.
Motion was made by Orr and seconded by ,TTilcox to adopt
the Utility Ordinance: motion carried.
The date for the open hearing of the Zoning Ordinance
was set for Monday, January 8 , 1940 , at 7 P.M. in the
Physics Lecture Room.
It was moved by Jones and seconded by Wilcox to adopt
( ) the ordinance Governing Public Eating Establishments.
Motion carried.
It was moved by Wilcox and seconded by Lipscomb to adopt
the Milk Ordinance. Motion carried.
