A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS,
ACTING AS THE CANVASSING BOARD TO CANVASS THE GENERAL AND SPECIAL
ELECTIONS CONDUCTED ON MAY 12, 2007.
WHEREAS, on May 12, 2007, the Municipal General and Special elections were held jointly with the
College Station Independent School District and Brazos County for the purpose of electing a Mayor, a
councilmember for Place 2, and councilmember for Place 1, to fill an unexpired term.
WHEREAS, the returns tabulated at Central Counting held in the College Station City Council
Chambers on May 12, 2007 recorded a total of 4,077 votes cast or 10.11% of the registered voters at
said elections; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that each of the candidates for Mayor, Council Places 1 and 2, received the
following number of votes in this election:

PART 2: That the City Council previously approved a runoff election to be held on June 23, 2007 for
the purpose of electing a Councilmember to Place 1 if no candidate on the ballot for City Council Place
1 received a majority vote in the May 12 election. The two candidates who received the highest
number of votes for the office to which no one was elected shall be placed on the ballot and be voted
on again by qualified voters. The candidate who receives the majority of the votes cast for such office
in the run -off election shall be elected to such office.
PART 3: That the City Council officially finds, determines, and declares that the election was duly
and properly ordered, that legal notice of such election was duly given in the English and Spanish
• language, that the election was duly and legally held, and all residents, qualified voters in the City of
College Station, Texas were permitted to vote at the election; and

PART 4: That the City Council hereby certifies that this resolution contains the total of all votes
received by each candidate including early votes as prescribed by Section §87.1231 of the Texas
Election Code and that the results have been duly canvassed in accordance with State Law; and
PART 5: That the precinct results for each candidate for Election Day and Early Voting shall become
a part of this Resolution; and
PART 6: That Ben White was duly elected as Mayor, for a three year term; and, that James Massey
was duly elected as City Councilmember, Place 2 for a three year term; and,
PART 7: That the above named persons shall take their statement of elected officer, the oath of office
and receive certificates of election as prescribed by the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter of
the City of College Station.
