AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1C AND SECTION 1D OF CHAPTER
11 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION,
BY ADDING A SUBSECTION 2(b) AND SUBSECTION 3 TO SECTION 1C;
AND ADDING SUBSECTION 3 TO SECTION 1D, PERTAINING TO THE
REQUIREMENTS FOR UTILITY DEPOSITS.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF COLLEGE STATION THAT:
Chapter 11, Section 1C and 1D of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of College Station are hereby amended to read:
C. RESIDENTIAL SERVICE
I. Minimum Deposit Required
Homeowners and tenants or non -homeowners as a
condition for obtaining connection for electricity
and or/water, or for continuing such connections if
they have already been made must make a deposit
with the City of College Station in the following
amounts for each connection desired:
(a) Electric Deposit $105.00
(b) Water Deposit $ 30.00
2. Deposit Returned
Domestic consumers may request that the deposit be
returned to them by the City of College Station
based on the following criteria:
(a) Homeowners who have twelve (12) consecutive
months of service with a good payment history.
(b) Tenants who have twenty four (24) consecutive
months of service with a good payment history.
A subsequent failure to maintain a good payment
history shall be deemed as just cause to require
a subsequent cash deposit.

3. Exceptions From Deposit
The following customer may be exempt from deposit:
A residential customer who provides a letter from
another utility company verifying good payment
history may be exempt from deposit. The service
must have been provided to the same individual or
corporate entity.
A subsequent failure to maintain a good payment
record shall be deemed as just cause to require
a subsequent deposit.
D. COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL CONSUMERS
A. Deposits Required
Any commercial establishment or industrial user, as
a condition for obtaining connections and service
for electricity or water, or for continuing such
connections and service if they have already been
made, shall make a deposit with the City of College
Station in an amount sufficient to cover the esti-
mated consumption of electric current and water for
an average eight week period. The estimate of such
consumption shall be made by the Supervisor of the
Utility Billing Department or his deputy. Such
deposit may be made in the form of cash, the
pledging and assignment of a certificate of deposit
or a valid non -documentary bank letter of credit,
or placement of a surety bond with an insurance
company licensed to do business in Texas, with the
best bond rating as acceptable by the City Finance
Department.
2. Deposit Returned
Commercial and industrial consumers who have twenty
four (24) consecutive months of service and have
established a prompt payment record may request
that their deposit be released by the City of
College Station.

section.

II.
This ordinance shall become effective and in full force on
the 1st day of October, 1989 and in effect from and after
its passage and approval by the City Council and duly
attested by the Mayor of the City of College Station.
